PRESCHOOL TEACHER (Great Benefit) (San Francisco) 

The Chinatown Community Children's Center (CCCC) is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing quality childcare and other social services to families in San Francisco.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:
1. Teach a group of children ages 2-5
2. Plan, develop and carry out classroom goals and objectives
3. Conduct DRDP
4. Develop Individualized Learning plan (ILP) for each child
5. Maintain accurate records on children's developmental progress
6. Keep parents informed about child's progress
7. Familiarity with early childhood development and developmental assessment tools.
8. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative relationships with children, parents, and staff.
9. Speak English fluently
10. Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Current California Child Development Teacher Permit or qualified for a Teacher's Permit
2. Prefer AA or BA in Early Childhood Education or Child Development
3. Current Pediatric CPR and First Aid certification
4. Proof of completion of core ECE courses: (Child Development,
Early Childhood Education Principles, Early Childhood Education Curriculum,
Child, Family and Community)
5. Physically, mentally and occupationally capable of performing the positions responsibilities.
6. Fluent English Speaking

ASSOCIATE TEACHER/FLOATER

JOB DESCRIPTION: The Associate Teacher is responsible for assisting teachers in the planning and implementation of a well-rounded educational and activity designed to meet individual needs of each child, under the supervision of the Teacher or higher.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  1. Must have a Teacher Permit

  2. 24 units ECE AND 16 GE courses.

  3. Demonstrate good communication skills, both writing and verbal.

 

Language Requirements: The Associate Teacher should be able to verbally communicate with parents and other adults in English; use grammatically correct language; and when possible, speak in the child’s home language.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Plan, prepare and implement a curriculum that is appropriate for the age level, skill and social development of the children served.

  2. Maintain reasonable contact with the parents of the children in your charge, to ensure an adequate exchange of information.

  3. Conduct daily health checks to determine each child’s ability to participate in the child care program.

  4. Assume responsibility for classroom aides and assistants during teacher’s absence.

  5. Assume in maintaining an environment that helps each child to have a positive experience.

  6. Assist in the maintenance for an attractive, clean, creative, functional living and learning environment 

  7. Assist children with self-care activities.

  8. Be familiar with and adhere to the program’s policies, health and safety regulations and emergency procedures and be ready to implement them if necessary.

  9. Attend all staff meetings and training sessions.

  10. Enhance his/her knowledge of child development through staff meetings, training sessions, workshops and self-education.

  11. Relay to supervisor any information or concerns expressed to you by parents

  12. Inform the teacher or supervisor of any concerns or observations of a child or the environment that may be of interest or importance.

  13. Provide breaks to staff if needed.

  14. Perform other assigned duties relevant to the needs of the program.

LIMITS OF AUTHORITY: The Associate Teacher works under the direction of the Teacher. The Associate Teacher needs to consult with the teacher to: change classroom activities that have been planned, any accidents or concerns about the children, parents or other staff members. The Associate Teacher may not discuss a serious problem with a parent or change hours of work without the approval of the Site Director and/or Teacher.

Continue to acquire knowledge about early childhood development by attending classes, workshops, or reading.

Physically, mentally and occupationally capable of performing the positions responsibilities that include being able to do the following:

  1. Reach a child 25 feet away within 30 seconds without danger to their own health.

  2. Hear a child call for help from 50 feet away.

  3. Comprehend and react to dangerous situations involving children without hesitation.

  4. Have the visual acuity to see and supervise children from a distance of at least 50 yards.

  5. Crouch to a child’s height, maintain eye contact at child’s level.

  6. Stand tall enough to reach children on the highest piece of equipment.

  7. Lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
